Welcome to the first Isolated Nation guide to experiencing WA outside of Perth, exploring the treasures this beautiful state has to offer. For the first in this series, we checked out the 'glamping' experience in Warren National Park, offered by WA Wilderness & Pemberton Discovery Tours.
There is no denying it, Tinder is weird. It is a rapid-fire environment of skin-deep swiping. But, humans are weirder. Tinder is merely a tool; it's utility is entirely dependent on the tool-wielder. If you're looking for a screw with a hammer in-hand, you probably won't nail it.
New year, new you baby. Out with the old, in with the new. Time to cleanse your follow feed... We bring you our top Instagram accounts to follow in 2017.
In the first volume of Cafe Nation , the our team got together to celebrate the “hidden gem” cafes in Perth/WA suburbia.
Earlier this week Bill Murray was spotted eating fries from a stranger's plate- Who would blame him? We've all been there. The consensus at Isolated Nation is that chips are life. Our contributors have thought long and hard about the best chippy destinations and present to you our official guide!
As a fundraiser for their end-of-year graduation show, fine arts students from Curtin University will be hosting "HOOKED*: Quality Cuts of Curtin's Emerging Artists", a week-long salon-style art exhibition.
In Perth today - unheralded and unknown - there is a group of Illustrators who are quietly setting about attempting to redefine how we view the world, and the role that "art" plays within it.
On Saturday night, a few friends and I went to check out the latest (and arguably coolest) venue in Northbridge, the Northbridge Brewing Company. Located on the edge of the Piazza on Lake St, Northbridge Brewing Company is a formidable sight, with a rooftop bar offering city views while you drink.
Record Store Day has come again, and with it, a slew of choice pickings from artists as diverse as Nirvana and Slipknot available at various stores about Perth. With plenty of well-established stores around Perth, (and some established chains trying to sell records…JB…) where will be the best places to find the gem, hang, chill and soak in vibes?
Tale of a Tall Fellow offers exceptional shirts designed by Di Nguyen. Her latest editions are from her range “The Hunted” which also features illustrations by local Josh Tavener.
I don’t consider myself a ‘vintage maven’, as I usually don’t shop for pre-loved items unless I see them in current fashion boutique stores. Despite this, I decided to take up the challenge and explore the world of vintage during the month of August. Every day the Restyle Challenge offered a new style prompt to which you must feature a vintage outfit, or vintage garment, that follows that particular style.
If you want to experience real America, there's nothing stopping you. But will you have as much fun as when you are in a tourist playground? The sad reality is that although we might think we want to expand our horizons, experience foreign culture and revel in the different, we spend the large majority of our travel time and money in tourist havens that are unmistakably the antithesis of what we like to think travel is about.
Some things in a city are popular because they are fun. Others attain a following due to their inherent and newly acquired brilliance. Still, others reach a higher status. They become an institution. So it goes with Guildford’s famous burger establishment, Alfred’s Kitchen.
It’s important to be reminded that if tourism continues on as it currently does places like Bali and Manilla-which are unrecognisable from what made them so popular-will only be lands of cheap food, goods, and sex, rather than gateways to another culture.
Perhaps the confused relationship between sex and nudity that we have somehow conjured up stems from an exponential growth in technology, and by extension, the media. In the last hundred years, we have witnessed the birth of the internet, film, television, and mass production of pornography....
So it's not often that I write about this topic- even though its one that's very close to my heart. BOOBS! Everybody loves boobs- especially guys- but for girls that actually have to deal with them...
It’s the little things that can take a good café and make it great. Personality is definitely one of those things. Little Willy’s has oodles of it (yes, oodles).
I have never had a bad coffee at Maven. I always have good coffee. I often have great coffee. Maven is my regular morning coffee on my way to struggle through a day of university.
Complaining about the price and quality of coffee seems to be a favourite pastime of Perth. Every week my Facebook newsfeed is full of my friends complaining that they just paid ‘almost $5 for a cup of shit’.
