Falls Fest: Christening the 2017 festival season in style

Leave it to trailblazing Fremantle to welcome the beloved Falls Festival to Western Australia. For the weekend of January 7th and 8th international acts like Childish Gambino, London Grammar, Grouplove, Parquet Courts and Modern Baseball will grace the Kings Square mainstage.

Tons of tried and tested Aussie festival favourites are also set to play; The Avalanches (who are riding the wave of success of Wildflower following their 16 year-long hiatus), Violent Soho, Matt Corby, Ta-Ku, The Jezabels, Ball Park Music. Plus DJs from Pilerats and an ‘immersive deep vibe spa’ of juicy textured tunes from South West festival darlings Camp Doogs.

But it’s not just the music man; Falls will be rooftop camping atop the re-purposed Myers building jam packed with subterranean dance zones, interactive art installations, performance areas and markets. Freo will be filled with food trucks, beer gardens and pop-up bars galore. The Town Hall will bring old skool cool with Swing Dancers plus jazz, blues, country and soul courtesy of Blind Tiger & His Boogie Box. For the more piously inclined the Church of Heavenly Delights will be providing some zealots of comedy like Joel Creasey, MC Andy Saunders, Aunty Donna, the Big Hoo-Haa and The Tor-Night Show.
