Slowly Slowly Share Alternate Version Of Single 'Nothing On' Featuring Shannen James

Ahead of their national tour in April/May, Melbourne’s indie dynamos Slowly Slowly have dropped an alternate version of their single ‘Nothing On’ featuring touring companion, Shannen James.

The band’s recent releases have proven their skills in pushing musical boundaries, particular as a group that comes from an Indie-Punk background. The original version of ‘Nothing On’ (which was released in February) is a far cry from the group’s early work with its 80ies nostalgic production which we’d typically expect from groups like COIN or local up and comers Bad Weather. The two variations of ‘Nothing On’ also contrasts with the band’s previous single ‘Blueprint’, which went to #92 on Triple J’s 2021 Hottest 100 and is arguably one of the group’s “heaviest” songs. That being said, the band has a genuine talent for carrying stories through their releases, regardless of the genre and production style.

The alternate version of ‘Nothing On” is no exception, with its dreamy pop production and beautiful harmonies carried between Shannen James and Slowly Slowly’s Ben Stewart. The band managed to change the whole vibe of the song with this alternate version, which was built off the bones of an unreleased acoustic rendition. Both takes on this song still feel like they link with the Race Car Blues album era while providing a taste of what’s to come from this new post-lockdown era of Slowly Slowly.

Slowly Slowly are bringing their electric live show to the Rosemount Hotel on the 21st of May with support from Shannen James and Duck Teeth.
