LIVE REVIEW: The Story So Far and Basement’s Australian tour finale
The Story So Far and Basement finished off their Australian 2019 tour with captivating performances at Perth’s very own venue Capitol. Throughout Australia, they have played in places such as Melbourne and Newcastle supported by Endless Heights and other local bands.
Perth-based alternative rock band Cellophane started the concert off in an electrifying fashion, performing one of their new singles ‘Leech’. They began the highly intensive night with songs from their second EP Ultraviolet, such as ‘Passing Through’, ‘Empty Sheets’, and ‘Afterglow’.
Basement, fresh off their tour supporting Weezer and Pixies, commanded the crowd with their whole set guided by the animated vocalist Andrew Fisher. They played their hit singles ‘Be Here Now’, ‘Disconnect’, and ‘Stigmata’ from their latest album Beside Myself. After hyping up the crowd their whole set, they closed with two of their most popular songs ‘Covet’ and ‘Promise Everything’, to which the crowd responded with jubilance. This had the headbangers and crowd surfers were singing along with every word.
As if the night couldn’t become any more wild, The Story So Far erupted the crowd as soon as they stepped onto the stage. Led by vocalist Parker Cannon who interacted with every crowd surfer he could (and even had someone throw a shoe on stage to him as some sort of gift), the five piece from California ended their tour with a performance for the crowd to remember. Fuelled with energy the whole performance, they played invigorating songs such as ‘If I Fall’ and ‘Quicksand’. Although, they decided to take a slower pace performing their instant crowd pleaser, ‘Take Me As You Please’.
In addition to witnessing The Story So Far and Basement’s tour finale, the crowdgoers at Capitol also have an everlasting memory besides the stimulating rock performances — the universally loved, platinum-selling artist Post Malone was in attendance as well!
