FRINGE REVIEW: "6056" is tasteless bogan humour... just the way we like it

Not for the easily offended, Cameron McLaren's 6056 is tasteless bogan humour... Just the way we like it. The constant self-deprecating jokes centred around the lower echelon of society were truly nothing but relatable.

Centrelink, meth, housewives on dexies and life in the mines were just a few of the bogan topics which McLaren managed to make the audience roar to. The true blue Aussie humour was nothing short of authentic, and for this reason, a hundred times funnier. I found that whenever I glanced around the room, almost everyone was grinning with anticipation, and whenever an exceptionally good punchline was made, rocking back and forth in their seats with laughter.

Do not be afraid to sit close to the front or on the VIP couches. While responses were afforded to all the audience members brave enough to yell out, there was no putting people on the spot. That being said, the local, down-to-earth vibes were a massive crowd-pleaser. The whole room was more than happy to hoot, call and participate in general whenever prompted.

Despite how improper and offensive his show was, McLaren is such a lovely dude (we bumped into him after the show for some late-night burgers) who should absolutely be commended for his awesome stage presence.

Four out of five stars.
