FRINGE REVIEW: "The Choir of Man" will knock you off your feet
Self-described as "legitimately just nine guys who like to sing, drink and talk", The Choir of Man is an authentic, enjoyable show, filled with down to earth isms, plenty of banter and powerful vocals that will knock you off your feet.
The casual, easygoing nature of the show was firmly established from the start, with the stage set up as a bar in which the performers comfortably moved around, as if they were right at home, at their local bar. Drinks were encouraged throughout the performance, with the guys stating that "it's a win-win situation - the more you drink, the better we sound!"
Audience members were readily welcomed up on stage and made to be a part of the show, and all were rewarded with a drink from the bar. During a much loved performance of ‘Escape’ (the Pina Colada song), the lucky lady brought up on stage was even presented with one for herself!
These talented men truly seemed as though they were having the time of their lives up on stage, doing what they loved while downing beers and poking fun at each other. Various instruments were featured throughout the show, including a trumpet, banjo, ukulele, clarinet and lots more. The audience was graced with a bit of awesome tap dancing as well, with fun choreography keeping the energy levels high throughout the show. Some of the hits they performed in their own unique (and sometimes hilarious) style included Adele's ‘Hello’, Queen's ‘Somebody to Love’ and Sia's ‘Chandelier’, just to mention a few.
You'll have the opportunity to meet the guys before the show - up on stage, at the bar to get a drink, or after the show - outside, at the exit, for a warm handshake, genuine grin and heartfelt thank you.
The standing ovation they received tonight was more than deserved. Don't miss out on the opportunity to see your favourite songs performed live by a bunch of incredibly talented musicians - get your tickets to The Choir of Man while they're still available!
