REVIEW: Binge Night, Cringemas Edition!

REVIEW: Binge Night, Cringemas Edition!

On a hot night, somewhere (Pig Melon) in East Perth, twenty to thirty-odd people decided to cram themselves in a stuffy, extremely heated room only to be slightly cooled by a lower-powered air conditioner. Why, you might ask, would someone do that? The answer to that would be the result of 6 comedians, 1 rapper, 3 DJs, 1 pop up shop and insanely cheap beer.

Bin Night is a wonderful night of stand up, music, dancing and a general array of degeneracy, which I personally indulge in. Led by local Perth Comedian ‘Mummy’s Plastic’, Bin Night hosts a variety of artists, largely comedians to take the stage and cast a shadow at a, literally, kneeling audience.

I was glad to see the line up was very diverse, ranging from gender queer individuals, indigenous individuals and people of colour, trans and non-binary folks, allowing for a variety of perspectives on comedy and life.

Amongst the favourites I had some of my favourites was the immature and clever comedy of Fabian Woods, the dorky fun energy of Luke Joseph Ryan, the millennial humour of Matt Acorn and the calming music of Jess Nyanda Moyle, which truly was a breeze in that sweltering building.

It also definitely helped to have my good friend Jamal Djing the night alongside many other creative and artistic friends showing love for their art.

All round, Bin Night was a fun and wonderful event I would recommend for people of many backgrounds to sit and enjoy!
