Montaigne unleashes 'For Your Love' and 2019 tour dates
It’s been two years since Montaigne last released new music, but the unique and captivating artist is finally back with a bold and mercilessly personal sequel to her hit track ‘Because I Love You’.
‘For Your Love’ is a tense, at times uncomfortable reflection on the dehumanisation she felt with her ex-boyfriend turned self-professed messiah. But like any relationship, perhaps in particular the ones that turn sour, it was a valuable learning experience — and this retrospective positivity shines through amongst the foreboding feel of the track.
The song is a revealing exploration of the spiritually draining, dark underside of the relationship. The pulsating beats produced by Americans Mozella and Kyle Shearer, who have also worked with the likes of Madonna, Rihanna, Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus (the kind of company Montaigne deserves to be associated with!), are the perfect counterpart to the haunting ambience and fierce lyricism.
It’s a riveting insight into what’s awaiting us in 2019, with Montaigne set to release her sophomore album — hopefully in time for her recently announced tour! (Perth fans, she’ll be performing at Freo.Social on the 26th of April.)
And if you’d like a taste of what you can expect at her show, such as her “idiosyncratic charm” and “endearing… empowering vulnerability with her otherworldly vocals,” check out our review from her last tour!
