LIVE NATION: WA's 2016 Southbound Festival announcement
Southbound organisers have revealed that Hermitude is the first cab off the festival line up rank. The dynamic duo will headline the first night of the new dates, Tuesday 27th – Thursday 29th December and only those who purchase the limited three day ticket option will witness their fitness.
Australia’s favourite electronic duo Hermitude have fans in a frenzy awaiting the follow up album to Dark Night Sweet Light. Southbound will mark Hermitude’s first show in WA in what seems like a lifetime – the duo have been based in LA for most of the year working on their new material. They will play the opening night of the festival with new tunes and old favourites like “The Buzz”, “Hyperparadise” and “Speak of the Devil”.
TICKETING
As promised, those loyal Southbounders who purchased tickets to the cancelled January 2016 festival will be given an exclusive 48 hour window to secure their spot this December and will receive a special email from Southbound HQ. A very limited amount of first release tickets will be on sale to the general public from 9AM Friday 22nd July.
NEW DATES
For Western Australians, the festive holiday period is synonymous with the South West corner of our fair state. As such, Southbound organisers have locked in the period between Christmas and New Years as the new dates of the festival for 2016 and in years to come. The Southbound team are calling out to their loyal supporters to help to rebuild and improve the event due to the subsequent impact of January’s fires and to continue the festival legacy and its future with these new dates.
SOUTHBOUND AND THE SOUTH WEST COMMUNITY
The rebuilding process from the devastating fires that led to the cancellation of the January 2016 festival continue to be a costly exercise in both time and money. After raising over $150,000 towards the appeal with the Southbound Benefit Concert held just days after the January cancellation, the festival will continue to undertake fundraising initiatives leading up to the December event, including collection options made on ground across the three day festival. More than ever, Southbound feels strongly connected to the South West and is developing programs and strategies to cement the synergy between the local community and the festival.
