In true southern tradition, Bear walks on with southern-styled hat on head and guitar over shoulder. The boys open with two huge tracks, one from an older album, and "State I'm In" from the recent album (Rivers in the Wasteland) and they had the audience hooked in under 10 minutes.

The Budos Band - Chevron Festival Gardens

I'll be the first to admit that I attend far less live music than I should. It's fun, it's social and most of all, it's a memory, an experience far superior to sitting on my couch soaking up some tunes. When I was given the chance to see 'The Budos Band' live it didn't take me long to rearrange the plans I already had that night to slot them in. 

Bibliophilia Obscura: Two Poems by Alejandra Pizarnik

Pizarnik was employed in the department of Philosophy and Letters at the Universidad de Buenos Aires where she published her first book of poetry, La tierra más ajena (1955). Pizarnik followed her debut work with two more volumes of poems, La última inocencia (1956) and Las aventuras perdidas (1958). Later she lived and worked in Paris before ending her life on September 25, 1972 at the age of 36. 

Where's My Meal?

I do my fair share of eating out. I frequent some of the most delicious new establishments around town.
I am rarely disappointed, and for that I am thankful. It is unfortunate that a gap is arising. Do we have too many tapas bars?

I couldn't comprehend how something as feared and precious as a whale so easily morphed into an objectified tool for cheap entertainment – satisfying the public’s addiction to slightly contraband novelties with which we can interact, and feel powerful as we leer smugly over the lifeless remains of an unfamiliar potential threat, praising ourselves for being so brave.
