Tasmanian Sculptural Print Artist Features at Curated Arts Festival in WA's Historic York.

Showcasing the most innovative artists and makers in WA, The York Festival is making headway with de-isolating our dynamic arts' community from other innovators in the Country, using the two day festival as an opportunity to host some outstanding interstate artists and makers.

After hosting Melbourne artists and animators Cat Rabbit and Isobel Knowles at last years' festival (under its' previous moniker of The York Bzzaar), this year The York Festival has confirmed multi-disciplinary Tasmanian scultural print artist Leonie Oakes to exhibiting and deliver workshops in September this year.

Other invitational artists are Broomes' "Paper Cutter" Sculptural Artist Jacky Cheng, and Schmørgåsbaag Art Space Duo: Stencil Artist Rory Dick and retro restoration craftsman Luuk Wipprecht .

These special guests will join over 80 carefully selected maker and artist stallholders for a whole weekend of arts, poetry, music, workshops, circus and more. This year there's even an Art Prize - The Hay Bale Challenge, where artists are given a small bale of hay and enter their most creative sculptural efforts.

It's events like this that boost inspiration and open up collaborations for WA artists, and if last years' weekend in York was anything to go by, develop a confident and diverse arts' community.

For more information on the artists, the program, workshops, or to apply as a stallholder, see The York Festival website.
