Racka Chachi confront police injustice and racial inequality in new release 'San Pelli'

Perth hip hop locals Racka Chachi have recently come back with a gritty 80’s inspired track ‘San Pelli’. A funk-inspired drum loop and a jazz double bass sample make me feel like I’m in a legendary Eric. B and Rakim music video, the song feels very reminiscent of ‘Follow the Leader ‘by the aforementioned Hip Hop G.O.A.T.s.

‘San Pelli’ is a gritty old school vibe discussing topics of police injustice and racial inequality, with imagery alluding the hip hop roots of vinyl scratching and the line ‘Boom Bap forever’. Another phrase that I loved hearing was ‘Got a bone to pick with white picket cul de sacs’, a call out to the safe and sound suburbia so far away from the dangers of police and racial inequality.

In 2019 the eight-piece had previously released their double single ‘FLOW’ and ‘BOQUET’, having championed The Sewing Room at their debut headline show and are actively cementing themselves as musical forces in the Perth music scene. Teaming up with Perth heavyweights FLOSSY, Otiuh, and Missgenius for their event series titled OVERFLO, an event series that I am very intrigued in seeing blossom.

A definite socio-political banger, ‘San Pelli’ is a must-hear for everyone with a keen ear to the Perth music scene!
