FRINGE REVIEW: IMPROV PARADISO, A COOL & SMART SHOW
It is difficult to find a genuinely hilarious Fringe comedy in the abyss of productions saturating the program this year. ALAS! Produced by the reputable Blue Room Theatre, a worthwhile comedy hour exists - Paradise! A Cool & Smart Show. Brace yourselves for 60 minutes of improvisation, audience interaction, and undeniable chemistry between two very special friends/comedy duo Barney Pollock and Matt Young.
With humour targeted to audiences fond of acts such as The Mighty Boosh, naturally not all sketches will be everyone’s cup of tea however there is certainly something for everyone in this 60 minute bonanza. Prepare yourself for copious discussions about bodily liquids, not so heavenly vocals, raw honesty, and beautiful monologues. The narrative underpinning the journey is complex and certain sketches do seek to traverse serious themes of desire and validation. From murder plotting monologues, to classic fraternity boys, and my personal favourite naive brothers on a road trip, it is a very special improvised journey.
This is a show you simply need to see for yourself before the boys are adopted by Noel Fielding himself. If you are not convinced, check out the Pop Vulture interview we did with the creators earlier this year. #RIPWALLY… Tickets currently are available for all shows, with the last one on February 16th — don’t miss out!
