“So, this is it. It’s all been leading to this,” Tony Stark tells Bruce Banner in one of the many trailers for Avengers: Infinity War (not in the actual movie though; damn these misdirecting pieces of marketing).

But the point still stands. Ever since Thanos, an intergalactic purple baldy baddie, evilly grinned at the camera in The Avengers’ first post-credits scene, the gauntlet was thrown, so to speak. It’ll take every Marvel superhero, from a childish Guardian to a godly Avenger, to prevent Thanos' catastrophic plan to wipe out half the universe with the use of six magical colourful rocks. At this point, Marvel knows us well enough to assume we’ll roll with such a ludicrous premise.
