Mid Year Report: 2014's Music

With the end of June also came the halfway point of 2014 (yeah, just think about that for a moment!). The first half of the year has been absolutely stellar for music, with some truly brilliant albums being released. Here are some of the best in our not so humble opinion.

The Love Junkies - Flight Test EP

Current leaders in Perth’s emerging punk x grunge hybrids, the trio are taking all of the right steps to ensure their music remains true, firstly by releasing an absolute banger of a debut in 2013’s Maybelene, before starting their own label and release platform, Blackbox Recordings and releasing the Flight Test EP.

The John Butler Trio - Flesh and Blood

The album as a whole is no doubt a good listen, ranging from the trademark folky fingerpicking of album opener ‘Spring to Come’, through to gritty funk of ‘Livin’ in the City’ where John opens up on the ol’ electric guitar into a Hendrix-esque crescendo; And this occurs over the first two songs.
