To put this into perspective, the best metaphor I can express for hearing Stetson play is that the listener is on a ship searching for land in choppy sea, in the dark of night.
(Kurt Vile) is a much better than your average folk guitarist, he has a wonderfully drawly voice and most of all, he has song writing chops that would make Bob Dylan get all hot and flustered.
The thing I found most striking about the acoustic rendition is that on more than half of the songs, Lights takes a very different approach to the songs than she did in 2011.
The album actually turned out to be one of the dorkiest indie pop pieces I have ever listened to, with one lyric quoting Harry Potter, saying “I solemnly swear I am up to no good.” Seriously, how lame can you get?
