The Love Junkies delivered another trademark high-energy, sweaty, charged set at The Bird on Friday, September 8, with New Nausea and Childsaint in support.
After an all ages show at The Garage the night before, the band hit Jack Rabbit Slims on Saturday the 14th of May, with FOAM, Rag N Bone and Shit Narnia supporting. It was also the first opportunity for many Junkie fans to see the new fourth member, bassist Harley Barnaby in action.
Slowly but surely the crowd picked up the pace, swaying and loosening up to the brash tones of the Love Junkies newer tunes’, giving the band its cue to dive into songs from their new LP with unhinged ferocity.
On their second trip here within a year, La Dispute played a near perfect set, cramming in 19 songs largely drawing from their latest two, Rooms of the House and Wildlife.
Current leaders in Perth’s emerging punk x grunge hybrids, the trio are taking all of the right steps to ensure their music remains true, firstly by releasing an absolute banger of a debut in 2013’s Maybelene, before starting their own label and release platform, Blackbox Recordings and releasing the Flight Test EP.
The Love Junkies are a Perth (Thornlie methinks?) based post-grunge three piece who hit hard, and rock equally as hard as some kind of Children Collide x Queens Of The Stone Age x Scratch Acid (melody, groove and freak outs respectively) hybrid sexy dangerous animal.
