Co3 presents 'The Line' at Heath Ledger Theatre!
The dance company Co3 Australia will be presenting The Line at the Heath Ledger Theatre in Perth from today to May 19th.
The dance and musical act will show the story of Aboriginal people not being employed between 1927 to 1954 as well as Western Australian history of segregation. The show was created by Raewyn Hill and Mark Howett, along with award-winning musician Eden Mulholland and accordionist James Crabb.
The title The Line refers to a law, passed in 1927, that prohibited Aboriginal people from coming within the boundary lines of the City of Perth – an area of about five square kilometres – after 6.00pm, unless they could prove that they were in “lawful employment”.
With this in mind, The Line searches to portray an image of Western Australian focusing on the relationships of Aboriginal people and the painful past that is tied within the local community.
