But rooting for one nominee, only for another to receive the honours, is all part of the peculiar fun of the Oscar season.
But before all that, we give a brief a spoiler-free review of Best Picture/Director/Original Screenplay/Lead Actress/Supporting Actress contender, Greta Gerwig's directorial debut "Lady Bird".
