Fringe 2016 Preview: Talk Dirty to Me

Welcome to the world of talk dirty to me, a play where sex is lies, honesty is sex, and lying is loneliness.

Sam and Ash have never met, but they’ve been having sex every night. Kinky sex. The sort of sex that you pretend you’ve never heard of. But one of them is a liar.

talk dirty to me is a new play created by Chris Brain and Casey Elder about the people we create online, and what happens when we can’t live up to them.

Inspired by their blog of anonymous online confessions (talkdirtytome2016.tumblr.com) as well as their own experiences with catfishing, Brain and Elder believe that the lies we tell online reveal more about our own desires and loneliness than we think.

“We both get really intrigued by what motivates someone to lie to a stranger online. There’s so much and so little at stake at the same time: we can reveal our darkest fantasies to a stranger with the safety of a made up persona and at the same time be a voyeur into the most secret details of someone else’s mind. But what happens when you can’t tell where the lie ends and you begin?”

Bringing together a team of artists from Canberra and Perth, The Cutting Room Floor presents talk dirty to me, an intimate story about online sex, loneliness, and our crushing need to be honest with each other.

The Cutting Room Floor is a Perth-based production house who strive to create exceptional live theatre for the contemporary audience. Their work has been described as raw and vibrant with a knack for realist dialogue. Creating art when they are compelled to ask questions, believing exploration is key.
