FRINGE PREVIEW: Rose [LIVE] brings the late-night talk show to Fringe

Not far in the distant future…..during a time of decline in the world of late-night television, emerges the last late-night show on Earth, The Too Late Show.

Ambitious and passionate, Rose KB is the host of one of the last late-night TV shows of all time, trying her hardest to revive the waning late-night format by brining us returning acts, guest stars, and surprises. I recently had the opportunity to chat with Rose, allowing her to provide deeper insights into the unique world of her talk show:

Q: What is the Too Late Show?

Rose: ROSE [LIVE] is The Late Show that might just be too late! A late-night variety TV show facing issues of rising production costs, broken props and sets, guests and workers being left unpaid, the final, slowly creaking and slowly breaking, late-night show in the universe.

What does the last late-night TV show on Earth offer to the citizens of planet Earth?

It offers fun guests such as Magic Matt Penny, Boyname, Tomas Ford and Myriad Sun. Of course, I myself play the deluded host, carrying the weight of a dying industry on her shoulders alongside regular performers Neil and Elijah from House of BOK. ROSE [LIVE] also provides an insight into the pressures that our host carries, driving her to desperation, finding any reason and any means to keep the show going.

Was this inspired by a certain decline in late-night TV, a certain observation on late-night television?

 It was more so tapping into a millennial nostalgia around TV that we watched as kids, like Rove (Live), Chicken Treat adverts, speaking of which, there will be a variety of ads being played throughout the show. Even though it seems like a carefree late-night TV show, so much of it is scripted, like a theatre piece with a story and references like Rove, Schapelle Corby and Tim Winton. So much of ROSE [LIVE] harkens back to a time of millennial memory, a time that felt safer and comfortable.’
