FRINGE REVIEW: "Briefs: Dirty Laundry" is a hot, playful delight

Briefs: Dirty Laundry is a raucous delight brought to us by the Brief Boys’, the cuties who have captivated Perth Fringe audiences for thirteen seasons. The show has a juicy interplay of drag, burlesque, circus and theatrical mischief. Dirty Laundry is one of many shows curated by the team at Briefs Factory, a collective of artists cultivating their craft in performance, circus, drag, and burlesque. Dirty Laundry is rated 18+ for adult audiences. Live Auslan interpretation was available for deaf and hard-of-hearing audience members.

The 2024 Dirty Laundry rendition of the show includes individual artistry and group acts including comedic stories and significant artistic merit. With a sold-out show, the audience sang, laughed, and played along with the Brief Boys. Sizzle is rated extremely hot and the show lived up to every drop of hype that precedes it.

Costume design included exceptional drag pieces and life-size suds from washing all that dirty laundry! The phenomenal dancers - well, contemporary dance performers who “identify as strippers” were brought out to play by their Drag Mother in a playful and tease-y series of performances. The show had us holding our breath, enjoying beautiful music, screaming with laughter, and mesmerised by the incredible physicality of the performers. Audience members were regaled with the airing of dirty laundry… and playful secrets they were dying to get off their chests.

Dirty Laundry was certainly my favourite show of the season. Keep your eyes peeled for anything Briefs brings to the table– it is sure to be scintillating and delightful. An absolute must-see for those seeking something hot and playful.
