Fringe Review: 30 Minute Macbeth is brimming with energy

A short review for a short play: 30 Minute Macbeth is to theatre what SparkNotes is to literature. An energetic and compact one-man play for Shakespeare fans and non-fans alike.

Patrick Hercamp has become a staple of the Fringe season, following up his efforts with last year’s Half Hour Hamlet. He performs solo, slipping between colloquial and Shakespearian language with ease, with some audience engagement chucked in. He is positively buzzing with energy the whole time, a feat in itself. Occasionally he speaks so quick you don’t hear him perfectly. Overall, however, he gives a succinct and entertaining summary of one of the most dense Shakespeare plays of his canon.

If you like Shakespeare but have a short attention span, you’ll probably find something to enjoy here.
