FRINGE REVIEW: Josh Glanc’s 99 Schnitzels (Veal Ain’t One)

Being a winner of the 'Best Comedy Award' at Fringe World 2017 and selling out quite nearly everywhere he goes, Josh Glanc’s 99 Schnitzel (Veal Ain’t One) left the audience feeling a brilliant mixture of confusion and bewilderment, but also awe as the comedian in front of them swept them away in a flurry of audio and visual spectres. They knew that what they had just witnessed was not quite what they were expecting, but in a very good way.

Josh Glanc brilliantly capitalised on the unexpected, delivering several skits that left the audience in a fit of laughter and shock, but all this proved to be excellent entertainment. The hour-long show was divided into several varying skits as Glanc effortlessly switched between a variety of polarised personas, much to the delight of the audience. Multiple skits hinged on audience involvement — and it is through this mark of comedic genius that allows each and every show to be unique in its own regard, whilst boasting Glanc’s ability at impromptu comedy.

Also, a very special shoutout to the audience that made the show as enjoyable as it was; it wouldn’t have been the same without the participation and the knack for the unpredictable (another shoutout to the man in the doll sketch). 99 Schnitzels (Veal Ain't One) was just an incredibly great time, and it wasn’t just different sketches and skits; they all seamlessly worked out to be connected in the end. This particular Fringe show was more than a comedy — it was also an art.

Catch Josh Glanc at Fringe Festival until the 4th of February!
