Cranking it up with The Creases

A long way from Brisbane, outfit The Creases were every bit enthusiastic about their headlining national tour as the long-held fans who had hopped along to see them.

Kicking off with the Perth leg of The Creases' Tremelow tour, The Spring Peaks were one of two of the gig's grand supporting acts. Upon delivering their nostalgic brand of idyllic coastal indie pop, The Spring Peaks were the perfect key to catalyse a chain reaction of crowd dancers. Swinging around without a care (for early night decorum), the sun-kissed band were most comfortable bringing to the table their warbled, sun-kissed tracks. As remarked, the five-piece are set to drop their new EP next year, which will no doubt be received well by music lovers all round.

Up next, dream pop artist Hatchie made her much-welcomed appearance as the second support of the evening. Having won over the nation with her gorgeous debut single 'Try', many had their eyes peeled for Hatchie. In a similar vein, the Brisbane up-and-comer gracefully beguiled the time with a series of dreamy, hypnotic tunes.

With both supporting acts, I couldn't help but feel transported to the daydream of reminiscent afternoons, with their fitting summertime tracks lingering in the background. However, with the arrival of The Creases came the sweeping night of even greater proportions.

With punters already carving up the dance floor, The Creases had no trouble sustaining the evening's fit of fun, tremendous energy. Leaping onto stage fearlessly, The Creases gave their all as they paid tribute to the lush nostalgic soundscape handcrafted for their recent debut album. As well as smashing out hits from Tremelow, the admirably raucous quartet delivered signature tracks from their Gradient EP, like the ever-memorable 'Static Lines'. Regardless, the band has come far over the years, with their unmistakable, frivolous sing-along songs and searing guitars, to their exploration of more striking threads.

High-octane and unwavering in spirit, their overall set consisted of many feel-good tracks — such as 'Impact', 'It's Alright' and 'Were Young' — which permeated the minds and limbs of punters far and wide. It was a truly blissful night for Perth, to say the least. Having proven themselves as some of the most talented indie pop rockers in the industry, The Creases will no doubt sail through the rest of their tour with hearts in tow.
