Movies of the Month: July Preview

Spiderman: Homecoming

Directed by: Jon Watts (Cop Car)

Release Date: July 6

Following on from last year’s Captain America: Civil War, Spiderman: Homecoming introduces us to a new Spidey character in the form of rising star Tom Holland. With a knock-out cast that includes the likes of Michael Keaton, Robert Downey Jr and Zendaya, this addition to the Marvel franchise is sure to not disappoint (Fingers crossed anyway).

It Comes at Night

Release Date: July 6

July is set to be the month of creepy films with It comes at Night being no exception. Starring aussie favourite Joel Edgerton as our protagonist who is forced to confront the demons that lie within himself, whilst chaos erupts outside. Dark, thrilling and wonderfully directed, the man behind the acclaimed Krisha, has produced the goods once more.

The Beguiled

Directed by: Sofia Coppola (Lost in Translation)

Release Date: July 13

Sofia Coppola fans rejoice! After a debateable (read: mediocre at best) foray into the world of The Bling Ring, our queen Coppola is back on form. Adapted from the Thomas Cullinan classic novel, The Beguiled is a predominantly female approach that shies away from the nonsense that was Clint Eastwood’s 1971 reimagining. Creepy and sensual, this is one of Isolated Nation’s most exciting picks. Watch Sofia herself explain the dinner scene:
