SPOILER NATION PODCAST: "IRON FIST" can't punch through the wall of mediocrity

Welp, here it is. The Marvel Netflix show that was so bad it constitutes its own podcast episode. Even before Iron Fist premiered, heck even before filming started, it was a lightning rod for controversy. Maybe its embrace of the white saviour trope, or the fact that untested Game of Thrones alumni Finn Jones was tasked with shouldering a series over this guycould've been forgiven, if it had bothered to rise above mediocrity.

As it stands though, nah. It's a brooding, talky soap opera that's as deep as a puddle of soy sauce. In this episode Howie and I go deep into the series' problems and strain to find something good to say; just in the interest of mixing things up, you understand.

It's not all about Danny Rand aka Iron Fist, however. We express our hopes, fears, and expectations for the upcoming The Defenders, too; a show that's gonna have to work a bit harder to recover from this terribly received one, one that holds a poisonously rotten score of 17 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. That's a position you don't want to start from – especially when you have to assemble a team of superheroes and get them to go through the motions of character conflict and fighting a villain within a mere 8 episodes. Still, we remain cautiously optimistic, and will no doubt have some thoughts on that one when a trailer drops.

Also, Howie had to edit out the sounds of literal crickets chiming in. Less you feel too sorry for Iron Fist (and, I mean, who could blame you? yeesh, actual crickets) the show was Netflix's most binge-watched drama . You can't keep a good Marvel hero down, it seems. Or a crappy one, evidently.

Anyway, enjoy. To get our podcasts directly to your devices, feel free subscribe to SPOILER NATION on Itunes, Stitcher, or wherever you get your podcasts!
