TPFF New Generation: A Celebration of Perth’s Rising Artists.

Perth’s ability to nurture home grown artists continues to amaze me to no end with the future of our city’s budding fashion scene well on display at the last Telstra Perth Fashion Festival runway event, New Generation.

Continuing in true Telstra Perth fashion festival form, the New Generation event was nothing short of spectacular. Day four finished off with a bang!

Held at the iconic Perth Concert Hall, five emerging local designers showcased some of their latest creations. As models pounded their way down a neon runway to the background of retro and grundgey beats, it was clear that we were all in for an eventful evening. What ensued was an array of well thought out garments that showcased each artist’s individual style.

Remi Lane

Opening the catwalk with pieces from her “Monday Monday” collection, Remi Lane paid homage to retro glam with summery and boho silhouettes. Round oversized sunnies, leather boots, and white billowy textiles were all the rage. This collection is a must for all those wanting to inject some fun and chic summer vibes into their wardrobe.

Elle Campbell

Line, colour and form come together to establish a beautiful collision between fashion and art. Delicate hand painted lines adorned sharply tailored silk blazers and tunics, setting the mood for Elle Campbell’s collection. Elongated sleeves only worked to further evoke and create a sense of appreciation for Campbell’s loud and colourful yet dreamy ensembles.

Tamara Loo

Models decked out in casual active wear teamed with fluffy pink slippers proved for an interesting combination. The metallic theme echoed throughout Tamara Loo’s collection with her experimental use of key holes and satin textiles.

Lyndal Malarkey

Sending out an assortment of patterned prints paired dark and navy colour blocked garments, Lyndal Malarkey offers women a modern expression of classic casualness. In outfits that are both practical and stylish.

Rosemaree White

Known for contrasting soft textiles with detailed and bold linear aesthetic, Rosemaree White did not disappoint. As models sauntered down the runway oozing confidence and sex appeal, all eyes were fixated in awe of the intricate beading teamed with delicate lace. Definitely a stand out collection for the night!

What this show emphasised was a clear direction of Perth’s fashion movement which has gone from strength to strength in the last few years. Props to Telstra and the City of Perth for throwing another fantastic festival, I’m thoroughly looking forward to seeing what these talented designer have in store for us next year and beyond.
