THE RUBENS VIDEO FOR NEW SINGLE 'HOOPS'

Having just released their sophomore album Hoops on Friday, The Rubens have unleashed the striking new video for the album’s title track and MTV are running the first look right here. Directed by cool kids Dylan Duclos and Matt Earl AKA ORFN, the video was shot in Sydney and takes you into a trippy world of multiplying Rubens.

Written once they thought the album was finished and coming off at times a little more R&B than Rock N Roll, ‘Hoops’ is prime example of just how diverse The Rubens sound is on the band’s new record.

Says lead singer Sam Margin of the track:
“'Hoops' came as we were getting mixes on what we thought was the finished album. We kept writing just for something to keep us occupied, but when this one came up we felt it had to be on the album. It's about being in a relationship with someone who does damaging things to keep you close, when really their actions are pointless because you love them despite it all.”

‘Hoops’ was triple j’s #1 most played track within a week of its release and reached #47 on the iTunes singles chart. With the hitting #3 on the iTunes chart and having been triple j’s feature album, it’s fair to say The Rubens’ sophomore effort is to be following in the footsteps of the band’s 2012, certified platinum self-titled debut.

Having just played to one of the biggest crowds the main stage saw over the recent Splendour in the Grass festival, The Rubens live show is better than ever and fans will get the chance to see them in action as they head out on one of their biggest tours to date. Taking on 22 dates throughout September and October, The Rubens will be playing fans tunes from their new album Hoops along with some old favourites from their highly acclaimed, self-titled debut. This will be the first time the band have toured the country since their mammoth ‘Never Be The Same’ tour which saw them sell out three Forum Theatres and two Enmore Theatres.

Melbournian 6-piece alt-rock-soul outfit Saskwatch and Central Coast folk rock duoWinterbourne will be joining the bill for most of the dates.

Don’t miss The Rubens when they hit your city on the Hoops national tour.
