5 Reasons To Go See Live Comedy

1. It's funny

Do I really need to elaborate on that one? ;) Laughter is the best medicine and it's actually been proven to be great cardiovascular exercise, as well a reducing tension, stress, anxiety, and irritation. Also you always feel better after a laugh- unless you are like me, and have a crazy sounding laugh- and then you just want to sink down in your seat and cover your eyes. But hey- it could always be worse- you could be the person I decided to bring with me who has to admit that they know the crazy laugh lady. Hahahahaha. :)

2. Lots of places to go

You'd be surprised how many places in Perth are happy to have comedians. I've heard they're a rowdy lot! We've already told you about Lazy Susan's, at the Brisbane,  but there's also comedy at The Charles Hotel, Ya Yas, upstairs at The Brass Monkey and Rosie O'Gradies, just to name a few. The Comedy Shack is doing really great things and is one of my personal favourites to go to. These venues all range from a cheap $5 to a more expensive $18-$20. But when you think about the hours of entertainment comedians are providing when you are giving them less than $20 an hour, your ticket price is a pretty good deal. Such a wide range of venues means just about all nights of the week are covered- which leaves you with no excuse not to go!

3. Great place to take a date

How long ago was the last time you and your partner went out to see some live comedy? No matter what your answer was, it was much too long since the last time and you should get out tonight and go see some stand up! It's not the most romantic of evenings, but it's something different and fun- team the comedy up with some food, and some beers and you've got a pretty good combination for a great night!

4. Meet comedians

Comedians = funny. You'd hope anyway. It's great having comedians as friends because occasionally they send you jokes! One of my good friends considers himself a comedian sometimes, depending on what day of the week it is, and it's really awesome because he tests out all his new funnies on me. I was even in one of his jokes once! Onya Dazza. Because stand up is such an easy instrument to carry with you (unlike a tenor saxophone) a lot of comedians in Aussie are imports from around the world, which is really good for meeting new and interesting people. Go make some friends- I have at the moment an estimated 7 couches in different parts of the world to crash on in the near future which is excellent news for me. Not so much good news for the couches I sleep on. Positions open for Italy, France, and New Zealand.  Apply below.

5. Perth International Comedy Festival

What better reason do you need? The Perth International Comedy Festival will be here really soon,  from May 1st- May 19th. Here at Isolated Nation we are super keen and have been squirrelling away tickets to our favourite stand up comedians. Some of our picks for this year are Paul Foot, Stephen K Amos, Dave Callan and one of my personal favourites- Josh Makinda. Go and grab some tickets and have a really good belly laugh, but let us know what you think! @isolatednation or @perthsoundchic will keep you up to speed!

Until next time!
