PREVIEW: Converge and War on Women to play massive Rosemount show

Double headers don’t get much more insane than this. Thanks to Cool Perth Nights, Converge and War on Women will take on the Rosemount Hotel on March 14, 2019.

It’s safe to say Salem, Massachusetts band Converge are one of the most influential figures in aggressive music. Pioneering the metalcore genre, their influence permeates not only in other bands’ sounds but in guitarist Kurt Ballou’s notable stints as producer. Now nine albums deep into their discography (featuring some iconic records) and they still sound as vital as ever, as proven by their latest record, The Dusk in Us (2015). It is an absolute honour to get to have them visit Perth.

Coming along for the ride is Baltimore’s War on Women. This feminist hardcore punk group hit hard on their two records so far (2015’s self-titled effort and 2018’s Capture the Flag), exploring issues from rape culture and transphobia to American military culture. They create urgent music for urgent times, and seeing them go about their business will be something special.
