LIVE REVIEW: Eves Karydas’ 2019 summerskin tour takes off with a bang

Rising pop queen Eves Karydas is back, and better than ever. With her Perth show packed full of eager fans keen to see her live, it’s safe to say that her 2019 summerskin tour started with a bang.

Support act Lakyn started things off with a few funky tunes, creating incredible pop sounds for the crowd. The mosh soon filled up as he played, getting everyone vibing and ready for Eves. His music was nothing short of impressive, with his soulful originals winning over the crowd. A cover of Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’ was thrown in, allowing the audience to enjoy a familiar tune played in his own unique style.

When Eves Karydas finally came on, she certainly made an entrance. With lights flashing and her band playing as she entered, the crowd cheered in anticipation. Her much-loved songs were even more incredible live, with familiar favourites ‘Hush’ and ‘Couch’ getting the audience moving along with the music. She threw in a cover of Post Malone and Swae Lee’s ‘Sunflower’, the perfect song to cover as it suited her incredible voice. Eves showcased a few new songs and opened up about her experiences while living in London, making the performance more heartfelt and personal. The best thing about her performance was how obviously happy she was on stage. Seeing her passion and joy expressed through her voice and presence was truly heartwarming, and it was plain to see that she was having the time of her life while on stage.

The night concluded in the best way possible, with Eves performing her trademark song that made it into triple j’s hottest 200 list, ‘Further Than The Planes Fly’. With the perfect balance of upbeat and intimate songs, her setlist could not have been any more well received by the audience. This tour is sure to be just one of many to come in the future, as it’s clear that the rising pop star is going to go far.
