FRINGE REVIEW: The Complete Craziness of Club Briefs

If you’re chasing an evening to sit back, relax and enjoy the show, Club Briefs isn’t for you. This interactive and fiercely fabulous late-night variety show will have you rolling with laughter and on the tip of your seat, entranced by the incredible performers. Located in the barely recognisable Metro City, host Fez Faanana, AKA Shivannah, did an amazing job keeping the audience thoroughly entertained — cracking jokes specifically catered to the Perth audience with several glamorous outfit changes throughout the evening.

Broome was well represented as three of the artists were Broome locals, and all were thoroughly enjoyed by the enthusiastic audience. The talented Rowan Thomas kicked off the evening as he spun about on the Cyr wheel — whilst magically seeming to be wearing less and less clothing with each spin. After a costume change and some quick humour from Faanana (featured after every act), the skilled and seductive Crystal Stacey took to the stage with multiple hula hoops swooping and flying all around the room and her figure. As the curtains were pulled back on stage, the next act and final Broome local Louis Biggs was revealed to be wearing nothing but a buttoned down shirt. A series of Rubik’s Cubes were then completed by Biggs with ease, whilst he sucked on some lollipops and generously threw them out into the crowd.

Luke Hubbard’s hand balancing act had the audience in awe of his incredulous agility and strength, but there was still even more talent to come. A tuxedo strip dance seemed appropriate, and so Brett Rosengreen provided the most wonderful performance with the perfect combination of athleticism and sexuality. After being treated with so much sweet eye candy, Hope One’s mind-boggling beat boxing skills were a welcome change and were clearly very appreciated as you could practically hear a pin drop in the audience at times. Last but definitely not least was a performance I couldn’t have imagined in my wildest dreams — a ‘bird bath trapeze’ by the incredible Mark Winmill… You’ll need to see this one to believe it.

This collection of wonderful humans performing hilarious, incredible and highly skilled acts is something you just can’t miss.
